When You Got to Let People Go

I find this blog post a little bit more personal than my other ones. I feel that I have to share this though because I've recently had to step away from a few people I've had a special connection with recently. There was a connection, but it was unhealthy. You know those relationships where it feels so good but it is so wrong. Those that at the moment are amazing, but the next day you feel like crap. Well yeah, it was one of those. I've been going through it for a while, and I finally made the decision to let it go.

It was tough because when I make a decision it is pretty set and stone and I don't really go back. I know that about myself, and that is why it was hard to accept and officially do it. So many what if questions go through your mind and you remain hopeful, but then one day you have to realize that nothing has changed for while and the person who said they would change, doesn't.

As you can tell from my workshops, YouTube, Podcast, Instagram (@hola_reyna)  posts, and blog posts I keep myself busy, and I don't have the time and energy to focus it on people who don't appreciate it. Like my mom says, "te tienes que dar de valor," which means "You need to give yourself value." If you do not value yourself then no one else will.

I understand that there are times you must hide your pride and compromise with people, but I suggest a lot of prayer and meditation until you make this decision because deep down you know what is right for you.

It is not an easy thing to do to walk away from something or someone. You may be too "comfortable" and rather stay in the situation and avoid the issue, but in the long-term it is so bad. Your situation may be way more complicated than mine, but I am just speaking for myself and possibly you can relate to some of it.

It is so important to be good with yourself first before you can share the same love with others.

* do a hobby * read a book * watch a documentary you've never seen before * take a dance class * go to farmers markets * go to a conference * work out * talk to different people *

Just keep yourself busy. Keep doing what you love and what you are passionate about and then you will attract the right people. With that I am creating a space and hosting a workshop called Q&A Women of Color Entrepreneurs Workshop coming up Saturday, July 15 from 12:00pm-4:00pm in the city of Baldwin Park (Location TBA). You will have the opportunity to be surrounded by powerful people that will share how they made their passion into a business. You can ask questions about how they go started, what inspired them, how do they manage it all, and all kinds of curious questions you may have! I am accepting a $10 minimum donation to attend in order to provide food and supplies. I would greatly appreciate it.

Please save your spot and make the donation as soon as you can because space is limited
